Engagement

Mazin is engaging the world. Already. He's taking it all in. He wants to be held up to the window so he can see outside. He insists on a walk outside every day. He felt the first snowflake on his cheek yesterday. He has finally acknowledged the existence of our two cats. He looks at toys and kicks his legs and waves his fists in a fit of determination to somehow, somehow get at them. What a Herculean task that must be for him. One day soon he will master his domain. What a triumph it will be for him to finally gain control of his limbs and act on his will. And what a will it is. Already. That's my word these days. I can't believe everything he is doing already, and it makes me feel so desperate to hang on to every little moment with him. He changes by the minute. How miraculous.
